BMW 2 Series Leasing

2 Series Old School vs New School

This vehicle -- pure BMW -- is all heart. It is available in a coupe and a convertible. It is also wonderfully fast. The M240i Coupe with 335 horsepower rear wheel drive can dash from 0 to 60 mph in only 4.4 seconds. With xDrive, it takes 4.2 seconds, and it handles with precise steering agility and control. This series was meant for the road and built to exceed the limits. It is available in automatic, with xDrive, and in manual. However you lease it, it comes with extra options -- such as a sunroof to give you a feeling of freedom as you drive.

Outside, this car is compact but with a lean, mean style and a low beltline that conveys a feeling of power, even when it is parked. It still earns awestruck stares from passersby who know of its broad road view, high-performance driving dynamics, and intuitive driver-oriented cockpit.

Since 2002, this car has dominated the road, and people still know it. A testimony to this greatness, the BMW 2 series has a 4.4 out of 5 average buyer rating.

The changes to this sporty car promise increased power, torque, and efficiency. The turbocharged four-cylinder of the 228i and the six-cylinder turbo of the M235i have been replaced by engines from the BMW modular engine family, and the names have changed according to custom to reflect the change.

4-cylinder 2-series coupes and convertibles are rechristened the 230i, and 6-cylinder, 10Best Cars -- winning M235i models are now M240is.

The 3-liter turbocharged inline-six of the M240i is the same engine as what was installed in the BMW 340i, preserving the free-revving, sonorous character of the inline-six. Then, the makers are giving the car more grunt. Then, the new-to-2B58 offers 335 horsepower, which is 15 horsepower over the N55 of the M235i, and torque increases to 39 lb-ft to 369 lb-ft. This narrows the gap between the manual M235i and the manual M2 to only 0.7 second.

The rear-wheel-drive M240i still offers six-speed manuals and eight-speed automatics. The xDrive all-wheel-drive comes with automatic models only.

The turbocharged four-cylinder 230i comes from the same engine family as the six, offering more power than the 228i. It displaces 2 liters, but the horsepower increases to 248, while the torque climbs from 3 lb-ft to 258. The rear-wheel drive coupe models provide either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic, like the M240i.
