Since 2014, the BMW 2 Series has wowed critics and consumers alike with its affordability as a high-quality luxury sports car. With choices between a coupe and convertible body style—coupled with a generous list of features and capabilities—the 2 Series ensures that you get a lot more bang for your buck.

The latest 2 Series comes with two terrific engine choices. If you want the most out of the vehicle in terms of fuel economy, you can go with the 2.0-liter TwinPower turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine, which churns out 248 horsepower.

For more power—as well as a 0-60 mph of up to 4.2 seconds—go with the larger, 3.0-liter TwinPower turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine instead, which roars at 335 horsepower.

The 8-speed automatic transmission to which each engine is attached gives you optimal convenience on the road, with the choice to exercise more control over gear shifting with the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. If you want to alter the suspension according to your driving mood, there’s always the Driving Dynamics Control selector, which includes comfort-, fuel-efficiency-, and sport-oriented settings. And even though the standard drivetrain is rear-wheel drive for an evened-out weight balance, you can opt for BMW’s very own xDrive all-wheel drive system for maximizing traction on every trip you make.

Blessed with BMW’s sporty heritage, the 2 Series looks the part. A low beltline with 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels and BMW’s iconic kidney grille help define the vehicle’s lean-and-mean exterior profile. Four-wheel anti-lock ventilated disc brakes ensure that you stop as quickly as possible without any wheel lock-up.

Servotronic power-steering assist make the 2 Series a cornering machine, with the four-wheel independent suspension enforced by shock absorbers to make your ride as smooth as possible. And you can enhance the vehicle with a multitude of options, such as a rear spoiler, dual exhaust, and xenon adaptive headlights.

Inside, the 2 Series bears SensaTec vinyl seat trim that not only gives a sporty touch, but also keep you comfortable on your adventures. The rear seats have a 60/40 split fold-down design to offer the option of extending cargo room. And there’s the option of adding multi-way power adjustability on the front seats for even more comfortability in the vehicle.

Even at the base level, the BMW 2 Series is an entertainment powerhouse. The seven-speaker 205-watt stereo system includes HD Radio, a CD player with MP3 playback capability, and SiriusXM satellite radio compatibility.

Also on the vehicle are cruise control, push-button engine start for keyless ignition, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free phone operation and audio streaming, and BMW TeleService to schedule your next car service appointment.

Upper-level trims get options, additions, or enhancements that include keyless entry, auto dimming on the rearview and driver’s-side exterior mirrors to dim headlights from behind the vehicle, and a transceiver for remote-controlling your garage doors.

For protection in the event of an auto collision, the BMW 2 Series is equipped with a pair of front impact airbags, knee airbags for the driver and front passenger, a pair of side impact airbags installed on the front seats, and front and rear side curtain airbags installed on the roof. Dynamic Stability Control provides electronic vehicle stability, especially during sudden maneuvers. And BMW Assist eCall enables you to summon assistance when needed, particularly in the aftermath of an accident.

Although a performance-oriented machine, the 2 Series certainly doesn’t slack in the safety department. That’s evidenced by feedback from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which named it a “Top Safety Pick Plus” vehicle: its highest honor.
